What is a Certified Professional? A Certified Professional (CP) is a British Columbia registered Architect or Professional Engineer who has completed a prescribed education program and passed examinations set by an independent examining committee including building officials, Architects, Engineers and professional educators.
In some British Columbia cities including Vancouver, Surrey, Delta, Coquitlam and Kelowna, a Certified Professional (the CP) may take the place of the building department's plan checker and building inspector. The CP prepares the necessary building permit documents, certifies their conformance to applicable codes, provides regular field reviews during construction and organizes occupancy of the completed project.
This is the minimum level of service a CP provides. It may result in accelerated permitting and occupancy.
